**1. Look at the Appearance: Visually Assess Basic Quality**
* **Clarity/Transparency:** High-quality PP folders are clear and transparent, without cloudiness, a hazy feel, or noticeable speckles (nucleation points), allowing you to see the contents clearly. Inferior products may appear yellowish, grayish, or contain numerous impurity particles.
* **Uniform Thickness:** When held up to the light, the body, edges, and bottom should have consistent thickness without uneven areas. The edges should be smooth, free of burrs or fraying, and neatly cut.
* **Heat-Sealed Seams:** The seams should be flat, tight, and seamless, without air bubbles, gaps, or weak seals. They should not tear open easily when gently pulled. Inferior products often have seams that peel up easily or show obvious gaps.
* **Structural Details:** Rounded corners should be smooth and well-rounded, not sharp. Reinforced areas (like edges and the bottom) should feel substantial and not flimsy, indicating no corner-cutting on material.
**2. Feel the Texture: Assess Material Flexibility**
* **Texture/Tactile Feel:** High-quality PP folders feel soft, flexible, sturdy, and elastic, springing back quickly after being pressed. Inferior ones often feel stiff, brittle, or overly thin and soft, lacking support.
* **Smoothness:** The surface should be smooth and not sticky or tacky to the touch. A rough, sticky feel or a strong odor might indicate the use of recycled materials or inferior additives.
**3. Simple Tests: Verify Durability**
* **Folding Test:** Repeatedly fold the body of the folder 10-20 times. A high-quality folder will show no whitening or cracking along the fold lines and will retain its flexibility. An inferior folder might show whitening creases after just a few folds or even crack.
* **Pulling Test:** Gently pull the body and the handle (if present). A high-quality folder will stretch slightly and slowly return to its original shape without significant deformation. An inferior one may stretch excessively without recovering, or tear easily.
* **Load-Bearing Test:** Fill the folder with a reasonable amount of documents (e.g., 50-100 A4 sheets). Lift it by the handle and let it hang for about a minute. A high-quality folder won't deform significantly, and the handle won't tear. An inferior folder might show handle stretching, seam splitting, or deformation.
